history

The Rain or Shine Missionary Baptist Church of Chicago IL.

Pastor Richard J. Jones | 1974-1988:Organizer: Pastor R. J. Jones organized The Rain or Shine M.B. Church, at 704 E. 43rd St., Chicago IL. in August 1974; his focus was Christian Education, Racial Pride and Evangelism. He believed that “No man could sink so low that God couldn’t lift him up.” Pastor Jones made his transition while preaching in the pulpit.

Pastor Sidney A. Logwood | 1990-2004: Pastor Logwood took the helm as pastor shortly afterwards. He continued to stress Christian Education, especially among church leadership and training in Evangelism. God allowed Pastor Logwood to accept the call of a congregation in Carbondale, IL.

Pastor Jerry M. Hardy | 2004-2006: Pastor Hardy was selected by the church to pastor ROSMBC. Although his tenure lasted only two years he was instrumental in consolidating the congregation with soul stirring sermons of love. After which God led him to organize Complete Truth International.

Pastor James F. Echols | 2008-2015: Pastor Echols, the former pastor of New Bethel M.B.C., called to be the Spiritual Leader of ROSMBC. He also believed in promoting Education form the Christian as well as secular areas, family solidarity, and church out-reach ministries. After seven years of dedicated service Pastor Echols retired due to health restrictions.

Bishop Dr. Barry L. Tidwell I | 2017-Present: After two years of pastoral vacancy, God saw fit, November of 2017 to choose Bishop Dr. Barry Leon Tidwell I., as the 5th (Fifth) leader of ROSMBC (44 years after the church’s inception). Immediately, Pastor Tidwell reorganized and taught a comprehensive Bible Study Program, revitalized the Church school and using modern technology, initiated a computerized financial, evangelical and operational record keeping system. Putting major emphasis on Evangelism and Family/Community solidarity and empowerment. “Doing all things God’s way.” Incorporating the Theme God is Doing a New Thing in 2018 at ROSMBC… Even through tumultuous times of trouble, God saw us through under his leadership. COVID-19 would not stop nor hinder the move of God; our sister church (Willow Creek Baptist Church Barrington/Chicago) blessed us with a grant as well God allowed us to renovate our Church in its entirety (New carpet, paint, new flooring, and redesign of the pulpit area, and most of all we have paid off our Mortgage two (2) years early. Which proves Bishop Tidwell’s statement of faith “He Keeps Doing Great Things for Us!!!”
